A couple weeks ago the librarian at New Hope Elementary School asked me if I could paint a mural for the library’s Story Time Corner. This is the elementary school I attended when I was little, so I am excited to do this!
She wants a night scene. So with the help of another local award-winning artist, Esther Shaneyfelt Parks (my mom), we’re painting the children a big tree with a moon, stars, an owl, mushrooms and lighting bugs. Oh! And did I mention that the moon, stars and lightning bugs will glow in the dark when we're finished? Also, I think it would be pretty cool to add in a couple of star constellations like the big dipper & the little dipper. Basically, we just want the children to love it and we want to give everyone another reason to go to the library. I think this mural will be awesome. Not only do murals liven up the schools but they help to encourage a creative environment for the students. Stay tuned for more posts with our progress!!
